A Data Matrix code that meets spec doesn’t always translate into a traceable part. In a high-volume production shop, it’s easy to miss a dull dot peen stylus or other machine-wear issues that can compromise mark quality. In aerospace, medical and automotive manufacturing, poor mark quality often shows up too late: at audit time or even years later, when a part can’t be traced.
Pryor’s VeriSmart 4 closes that gap by verifying every mark immediately after it’s applied. It pairs a Cognex In-Sight 2800 AI-enabled camera with a custom housing and dedicated lighting module, mounted alongside the marking head on their powerful benchtop dot peen marking machines. If marks become unreadable during production, you’ll catch them in time to correct the issue before shipping parts.

Codes are graded against AS9132, Rolls-Royce JES131, RRES90003, AIM DPM and ISO/IEC 29158, with reporting on symbol contrast, modulation, axial non-uniformity, grid distortion and overall grade. OCR and OCV tools confirm human-readable text matches the expected data and is complete and legible. Feature finding, edge detection and positional analysis confirm the mark landed where programmed.
Because inspection runs right inside your Pryor MarkMaster 4 software, it triggers automatically during the marking cycle. It generates a PDF report for each part with captured images, metrics and grade, stored against the part number for full lifecycle traceability. That makes it a powerful tool for turbine blades, discs, casings, VIN and component ID, and regulated medical device marking—especially on flat machined surfaces where its on-axis lighting performs best.
VeriSmart is available for Pryor BenchDot systems, either at time of purchase or as a retrofit accessory.
